The Nduom Foundation has built state-of-the-art community centres for two towns in the Central Region – Dego in the Gomoa West District and Narkwa in Ekumfi District.

The two projects were built by Yorke Properties, the Estate Developing unit/company within Groupe Nduom, and commissioned on Friday, May 8, 2015 by the President and Senior Vice President of Groupe Nduom (GN), respectively Dr. Papa Kwesi and Yvonne Nduom.

The Nduom Foundation is a non-profit making subsidiary of Group Nduom that executes corporate responsibility projects and services on behalf of Groupe Nduom companies. The Foundation earns its funds from contributions of the 40 member companies that make up Groupe Nduom.

Speaking at the commissioning of the two facilities, Dr. Nduom said the group holds as its major duty the act of giving back to society, hence the need to provide the beneficiary towns with such a basic need as a community centre.

At Gomoa Dego, Dr. Nduom disclosed that the town is his ancestral home, hence he felt obliged to continue the pioneering give-back-to-society role of his grandfather who built a Post Office for the town.

Apart from the Dego and Narkwa ones, the Nduom Foundation has sponsored the building of community centres for towns, such as Bronyibima and Brenu Akyenim in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA)Constituency; Effutu Mampong in Cape Coast North Constituency and Otuam at Ekumfi Constituency.  All projects are in the Central Region.

Dr Nduom underscored the importance of education and the need for governments to implement a provision in the 1992 Constitution that says every Ghanaian child should be given the opportunity to go through primary and Junior High School in a national project of basic Free, Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE.)

He challenged Chiefs and elders of the communities to support his crusade, for, in his opinion, education opens doors and opportunities for people to aspire and the potential to meet those aspirations.

“Do we know which one of the children here will become President one day, a lawyer, a medical doctor, an Inspector-General of Police and other high-profile personalities,” he quizzed.

He disclosed that his political party-the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), is currently at the Supreme Court seeking the court’s order to compel national administration to implement the FCUBE to the fullest.

That is an indication of his insatiable appetite for education and it is that same passion that has driven the Nduom Foundation to fund the construction of a dormitory block for St. Augustine’s High School in Cape Coast and to constructing (in an on-going project) an auditorium for the Arch-Bishop Porter Girls Senior High School in Takoradi, Western Region.

The Foundation is also offering scholarships to brilliant but needy children and teenagers right from basic level through to the tertiary level. Each year, 10 boys and 10 girls are selected through a basic selection process nationwide for these Nduom Foundation scholarship awards.

Before their philanthropy was institutionalized as a formal Foundation, Dr. & Mrs. Nduom, for the past 15 years, fulfilled a personal commitment to sponsor students who are brilliant, but from economically-challenged backgrounds through basic school all the way to the university level.
